Publication Judging

The criteria are intended to provide a framework for effective and consistent communication, as well as equitable evaluation of newsletters submitted for judging.

Club Criteria Notes:

Points will be given per month, representative of all publications presented in a timely manner for judging (October – Sept.) during the current Kiwanis year, AND according to each publications REGULAR distribution schedule. Example – If two issues per month is the established “norm” for your club, scores from the CONTENT category of each publication will be added together, and divided by the number of publications (2) = monthly score in that category. Likewise – 4 issues in a single month, category scores will be divided by 4.

Awards are made at District Convention in August of the year following the Kiwanis year that publications are submitted for judging – almost a year after the current year concludes.

Division Criteria Notes:

Points will be given per evaluation period, representative of the Division Council’s meeting schedule/frequency of meetings (October – Sept.) during the current Kiwanis year. Example – If two meetings per year are the established “norm” for your Division, scores from the CONTENT category of each publication will be added together, and divided by the number of publications (2) = score for the year.
